Yarraville Gardens Changing Places
The new Yarraville Gardens pavillion incorporates a Changing Places facility, accessible toilets, shower and storage facility for the cricket and football clubs who use the adjacent oval.
The facility is designed to integrate into the heritage listed Yarraville Gardens by allowing views through the building which frame significant trees. Our site analysis and research into the history of the site informed the building design which creates a triangular series of spaces reflecting parts of the original layout of the gardens.
Basalt cladding and a prefabricated glulam structure relate to the lasting remnants from the garden’s history as a basalt quarry. Artwork by ArtLife (Footscray Community Arts) has been integrated into the design.
